Four people, including three children, died in a motor accident Tuesday morning, when a loaded truck lost control and ran over them. The accident took place in Nduba Sector, Gasabo District.

The accident, in which the driver of the truck also died, was confirmed by Chief Inspector of Police Emmanuel Kabanda, the spokesperson of the traffic and road safety department at Rwanda National Police.

The truck, registration number RAD731J, belongs to local construction company, NPD-COTRACO.

While the children died on the spot, the driver was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to injuries.

According to Kabanda, the truck was from Nduba headed to the neighbouring Gasanze cell, and the cause of the accident was yet to be identified by press time. He said investigations were launched immediately.

The truck also destroyed a nearby house but, fortunately, nobody was inside that house.

Kabanda urged road users to be careful and respect traffic rules saying that these accidents are avoidable.

Police has ordered installation of speed governors in all public vehicles which limits drivers to 60 kilometre per hour.
