Primus Guma Guma music competition contestants will today begin a tour of different memorial sites as part of Bralirwa’s activities to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Bralirwa are the sponsors of the annual music competition.
Today, the contestants will visit Kigali Genocide Memorial (KGM) Centre in Gisozi where remains of over 250,000 genocide victims were buried.
The tour is aimed at helping the contestants to learn from the country’s tragic history.
"All the 10 contestants are youth. So we organise such visits to let them understand what the country passed through so that they can use their music to build society,” said Joseph Mushyoma, the boss of East African Promoters (EAP), the organiser of the contest.
Paccy Oda, one of contestants, said this is a great initiative because it is every Rwandan’s responsibility to remember the darkest days the country passed through and to draw lessons from our history.
The tour will be followed by another charity activity on April 20, where the contestants will pay community health insurance premiums for 1000 vulnerable families in Rubavu District.
The 10 Primus Guma-Guma Super Star – Season 7 contestants are,Bull Dogg, Danny Nanone, Christopher Muneza, Social Mulla, Davis D, Mico The Best, Dream Boys, Active, Oda Paccy and Queen Cha.
