AS Kigali Vs Rayon Sports

AS Kigali will be hoping to get their revenge against table leaders Rayon Sports when both teams meet in a rescheduled league match on Saturday at Stade de Kigali in Nyamirambo.

Head coach Eric Nshimiyimana’s team lost 1-0 in the corresponding fixture at the same venue, thanks to Pierrot Kwizera’s lone goal.

Victory for the City of Kigali-sponsored side would take them into second place with 43 points, three behind the leaders, while a win for the blues would see them go eight points clear at the top with a game in hand – against Sunrise FC.

Rayon Sports return to action fresh from beating Bugesera 1-0 in midweek and they also welcome back head coach Djuma Masudi and midfielder Olivier ‘Seff’ Niyonzimana, who missed the last match through suspension.

Nshimiyimana believes that AS Kigali is in good position to grab all the points. "Three points is our target. We’re still disappointed with the way we lost the (corresponding) game last time out.”

Meanwhile, his counterpart, Masudi said: "We will go all out for three points because we want to stay on top. It is a very tough league and everyone is putting up a fight. AS Kigali are a hard team to beat but we will do all we can to secure maximum points.”

On Wednesday, Rayon Sports beat Bugesera FC 1-0 in Nyamata to go five points clear on top of the table. New signing Tidiane Koné came from the bench to score the lone goal in the 62nd minute.

Rayon Sports will be without injured Francois Mugisha, who is out for three weeks, while Congolese midfielder Fabrice Mugheni Kakule also misses out.

In their previous 23 meetings, Rayon Sports have managed 11 wins against six for AS Kigali, while the other six games ended in draws.
