Rwanda Football Federation president, Vincent Nzamwita is in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to attend the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) General Assembly, which started on Wednesday and ends on Thursday at the African Union Headquarters.In a statement released by FERWAFA, the General Assembly will begin with a CAF forum on the evolution of the African Football under the theme: Football and Politics in Africa: Interactions, Convergence, and Splits. 60 years of a marriage of passion and reason. The building of a Pan-African ideal is a must for the professionalisation and the modernisation of African football. Future perspectives for CAF.The forum will tackle different issues such as the role of African football in the building of African states, sources of financing, financing model, economic impact and value of competitions (TV rights, infrastructure, and building capacity).Others are the role of FIFA, CAF and the members to use football against scourges facing the continent – social responsibility should be in the centre of the daily football management and not at its periphery, player at the centre of the game – Protection of players and youth – Contractual obligations and fundamental rights.The fight against match-fixing will also be discussed looking at football and sport as an essential vector for the promotion of gender equality – fight against discrimination.The CAF General Assembly will coincide with the Confederation’s 60th anniversary of CAF. Five-hundred participants are expected at the event.The main attraction at the CAF Assembly will be the presidential election on Thursday in which Madagascar FA boss, Ahmad Ahmad, is challenging the incumbent Issa Hayatou.editorial@newtimes.co.rw
