We need to mind our business and give Trump's America a break

When will our people understand that the US owes nobody anything, and perhaps her withdrawal from the ‘aid’ business that has done anything but develop our countries will finally get us working harder and more intelligently to use our own resources for our own self-development? A silver lining in the US cutting its aid to our countries: It will help us to concentrate our minds on the fact nobody but ourselves is responsible for improving our societies.

Editor,

RE: "US slashing foreign aid implies ‘every man for himself’” (The New Times, March 6).

Apart from encouraging us to finally begin taking real responsibility for our own affairs, there is an additional benefit in not having to render any account to any outsider regarding how we run our own affairs.
