Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) go to polls this Saturday to elect a new executive committee.

The elections will be held at Lemigo Hotel.

The body’s Secretary General Philbert Rutagengwa, who is seeking another term in office, said everything is set to ensure a free and fair exercise.

"All the candidates are currently conducting their campaigns and the elections will be open to all RNOSC members,” he said on Wednesday.

According to the Olympic Charter, general elections are held the year after the Olympic Games. The committee members hold office for a term of four years.

Positions that will be contested include that of president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, secretary general, treasurer, two advisors and finance manager.

Incumbent president Robert Bayigamba has said he will not be seeking re-election, leaving former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Internal Security, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha, the sole candidate for the position.

There are two candidates for the position of 1st vice president, namely; Claire Deborah Ingabire and Felicite Rwemalika, while incumbent Elie Manirarora will be up against Cycling federation vice president Festus Bizimana for the position of 2nd vice president.

On the post of the secretary general, incumbent Rutagengwa will stand against former National Paralympics Committee-Rwanda president Dominique Bizimana.

Alice Ingabire is standing unopposed on the post of treasurer while the trio of E’Gairma Hermine,Phophina Muhimpundu Gashugi and Eugene Nzabanterura will contest the two posts for advisors; with Josette Umwali also standing unopposed on the post of finance manager.
