Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has suspended referee Samuel Uwikunda for one month over negligence during the national league match between Mukura and APR at Huye Stadium, on February 24.

Uwikunda, in his first full season as a topflight referee, was suspended following a request from the referees’ commission after assessing his performance during that game.

In a game where reigning champions APR FC won the game 3-2, Uwikunda was condemned for his failure to apply the rules when Mukura Victory Sports player Hamidu Simpenzwe head-butted APR striker Issa Bigirimana, even after the fourth official had notified him of the incident.
