According to Mathew 10:16, Jesus makes it clear to us that for those who continue to do his work, will face a lot of troubles. However, He gives us guidelines on how to face these troubles.
"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.”
Jesus asks us to be as cunning as a snake because it is with this that we shall be able to get what we want not matter what we go through and at the same time be innocent as doves as we win more souls for Jesus.
God has given us the ability to do his work and not doing it for our self-fulfilling agenda, so we do not have any excuses not to engage for him.
Jesus also tells us that as we keep engaging for him, we should have faith, hope and love in our hearts.
Simon Kibe, a consultant at HR & Strategy, said while preaching at Christian Life Assembly on Sunday that with faith, we can be able to face our challenges, maintain our connection with God and also enables us to benefit anything God has to offer.
In Hebrews 11:6, the scripture emphasizes that God is pleased when we have faith in him and that he will reward those that believe in him.
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Faith is also seen as an acknowledgement for God’s glory and belief in the unseen. With faith, one is able to have a proper attitude with God and can relate properly with their fellow man.
We also learn that faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit as we read 1John 5:4. "For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”
Described as a confident expectation of a future state, Kibe says that with hope, our energy is renewed and this enables us to keep in the journey of engaging for Jesus.
Hebrews 6:17-19, we learn that for a Christian, hope can act as a helmet of salvation, protect our mind and soul.
"Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,”
Jesus also asks us to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves because it destroys selfness and creates lasting relationships with our fellow man as christians we continue to engage more for Jesus.
In conclusion, we learn that as Jesus provided us rules for engagement, we should pray to not only know but to understand how to engage in every area of life.
