FERWAFA boss in S. Africa for FIFA summit

Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) president Vincent Nzamwita and Secretary General Latifah Uwamahoro, yesterday, joined other African Football Federation officials in Johannesburg, South Africa for a FIFA Executive Summit.

The officials from the 54 African countries are meeting with FIFA president Gianni Infantino to discuss general issues about the game, FIFA’s plans to expand the World Cup participation and changes to its development structures.

The association presidents will be divided into two groups with some 25 meeting Infantino and other FIFA officials on Tuesday and the rest the next day.

It is the first time such a summit is being held on the continent.

Meanwhile, Infantino is set to travel to Rwanda on February 24 in his first high-profile visit that will see him lay a foundation stone for the construction of FERWAFA Village Phase 1.

Infantino is scheduled to jet in Friday night and will be the guest of honour at a Foundation-laying ceremony of a FERWAFA recreation facility on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

The facility, according to the football governing body, will have a hotel, a gymnasium and mini-pitches for volleyball, basketball and football.
