Mashami salutes his players after Bugesera stun Police

Bugesera head coach Vincent Mashami has saluted his players after watching his side edge title hopefuls Police 1-0 in the national football league on Thursday at Bugesera turf to remain in fifth place on the table.

Bugesera head coach Vincent Mashami has saluted his players after watching his side edge title hopefuls Police 1-0 in the national football league on Thursday at Bugesera turf to remain in fifth place on the table.

Police midfielder Mirafa Nizeyimana netted an own goal with a header in the 23rd minute after a well taken free kick by Bugesera skipper David Nzabanita.

The win took Bugesera FC to the fifth spot one behind Police in the fourth place and three points behind third-placed AS Kigali FC.

Mashami said: "We had studied their game well. My players delivered a great performance. I am happy for their work and the character they have showed.”

In other games played on Thursday, Marines held AS Kigali to a 1-all draw with Eric Nshimiyimana’s side finding the net through Eric Iradukunda in the 12th minute before Abdul Kalim Nduhirabandi’s team won a controversial penalty in the 90th minute, which was converted by Bertin Dusenge.

Musanze beat Pepiniere 1-0 at Ruyenzi stadium, with Peter Otema scoring the lone goal in 90thminute; while in Nyagatare, Sunrise lost to Kirehe 2-0, thanks to Masoudi Abdallah and Jean Paul Uwimbabazi goals in 13th and 18th minute, respectively.
