AS Kigali see off Sunrise FC to go third in league

National football league side AS Kigali have completed the signing of three new players to strengthen their side ahead of the league second round that got underway on Friday when AS Kigali beat Sunrise 1-0 at Kigali Regional Stadium.

National football league side AS Kigali have completed the signing of three new players to strengthen their side ahead of the league second round that got underway on Friday when AS Kigali beat Sunrise 1-0 at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The trio includes; forwards Suleiman Kakira, Pappy Chimanga and Ghanaian midfielder Clement Toto, all signed as free agents, while defender Emmanuel Nsolo Uwimana returns to the club from his loan spell at Etincelles.

"We’re glad to sign the three new players and to have Uwimana back from loan. We expect them to improve and show what they are capable of, and hopefully they will make us stronger in the second half of the season,” Nshimiyimana told Sunday Sport.

Meanwhile, the former Rwanda international saw his side leapfrog Police FC in third place in the league table following a 1-0 win over Sunrise FC.

Full back, Eric ‘Radu’ Iradukunda scored the lone of the match from Eric Nsabimana’s pass, to earn maximum points. AS Kigali have 32 points, one ahead of Police but the former have played one game more but they remain four behind league leaders Rayon Sports.

Rwanda’s representatives in CAF Club competitions, APR and Rayon Sports will play their match day 16 fixtures after concluding their continental preliminary round matches.
