To be a real woman

To be a ‘real woman’, a woman of character, a woman who deserves love and blessings, don’t date a man who is already rich. No. That’s for gold-diggers. And gold-diggers deserve nothing good, right?

Date a man whose pocket size is average or even below average. Holdthat man up with your hands, knees, and other body parts. Withstand the drought in his pocket or better yet, provide for him.

But while you provide for him,be careful not to bruise his ego.Remind him every day that he’s the man. Kneel for him. Wait on him. Maybe even find a way to sneak money into his wallet and then later ask him for some money so that he knows he is important. A man is a man you know.

Move in with him if he can’t afford a wedding. Because you shouldn’t fund a wedding even if you can. No. That would be saying that you wear the pants in the relationship. And yet you’re only supposed to wear skirts and dresses. Lest you forget that you’re woman and you start to walk or sit improperly, thereby shaming your whole village.

And as long as you are with him, put his dream ahead of yours or even drop yours altogether. Because your most important dream (having a man in your life) has already come true anyway. A real woman wants nothing more in this life than to be a wife and a mother, right?

Okay so the years go by and you’re no longer in that one bedroom house. You’re now in a house so fancy that your dog has its own bathroom. And your husband has a Range rover (or some other type of fancy car). He drives that car, sometimes with a young woman beside him.

If you find out, you’re not allowed to get mad. You’ve had children and theyears of youth are now lost on you. While you were doing everything else, you forgot to stay young enough to satisfy your husband’s carnal needs. He’s a man you know.

Besides, all men cheat. You should be thankful that he ‘respected you’ enough to hide it from you. So don’t confront him because that’s very disrespectful and he might leave you.Work hard to stay as the main woman. When he comes back from running around on you, welcome him with love. You feel betrayed? Suppress it. Be a real woman.

So in the end you might as well have been a gold-digger. In fact, you’re worse off because you withstood years of financial strain.

This is not to say that women should marry for money.Or that anyone should marry for money. I believe that the best kind of marriage happens when two people love each other, work together, grow together and build each other up. No sexist politics about being a ‘real man’ or a ‘real woman.’

But it’s 2017 and people are still ranting about how all women are now materialistic. And I’m over it. There are many stories of women who have reaped heartbreak after withstanding years of financial drought. So it’s not always worth it.
