It’s not every day that an upcoming artiste gets the chance to work with one of the giants in the business. But luck seems to be smiling at Yvan Buravan. Buravan, known for songs like Malaika, Bindimo, and Ni JyeNawe, to name a few, may be starting the year with a bang.

News reaching us is that the singer, after his hit song, Just a Dance, is in talks to work withTanzanian superstar AY. Word has it that the two are making a remix of Just a Dance and that the audio has been already recorded.

Close sources to the singer reveal that producer Pastor P has traveled to Tanzania to record the track which will be released along with the video.

The Ben scoops juicy Airtel deal

Popular Rwandan Diaspora artiste, The Ben, has been making headlines for the last two months or so.

The singer staged a mega performance at the annual East African Party on January 1 during which he announced his love for his country.People expected him to return to the US on January 16 as planned, but the singer had other plans.

As we reported, The Ben was planning shows upcountry, however, we are not sure how that went or if it even happened at all.

Word reaching our desk is that the Habibi singer has now landed a deal with Telecom Company, Airtel. The Ben will be launching Airtel’s new campaign dubbed TeraStori, a voice-call package in Rubavu and Huye.

Previously, R&B and Afro-beat musician King James was working with the company and most campaigns were run by him. But as it looks, the Ben could be taking his place.

It is not clear how long this contract will be, but most people are wondering when is he going back? We shall keep you updated!

Uganda’s Irene Ntale quits Swangz Avenue

Ugandan songbird Irene Ntale has quit Swangz Avenue, a record label she has been signed to since her breakthrough in the music industry.

Ntale apparently broke the news on Instagram.

Ntale told her fans that she has been contemplating quitting Swangz Avenue for so long and that she came to an agreement with the record label.

She added that she made her intentions known to her bosses and that the two came to an understanding and this is the best move forward. She also thanked Swangz Avenue, which is arguably one of the biggest music labels in the country, for the musical knowledge and experience she gained while there.

Sources further reveal that she chose her sister Sandra Ntale to be her new manager.

TMC goes back to school

It is good to know that our local artistes are keen on education.

Knowless Butera graduated last year, Tom Close did the same a few years back, Urban Boyz’ Safi Madiba and Humble Jizzo all completed university, and many more artistes followed suit.

Now, news reaching our desk is that Dream Boys’ Claude Mujyanama, popularly known as TMC, is soon pursuing his Master’s degree.

The singer completed his Bachelor’s degree at former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, currently University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology.

Desange tries her luck in music

The Rwandan music scene is flooded with more men than women, so it’s always great when a new face appears.

This time, the new kid on the block is Desange Uwamahoro, a young artiste based in Finland. She joins a couple of other female artistes who do their music abroad.

The singer released her debut song Mfata which featured musicians Lil G and Aime Bluestone.

Sources tell us that the jam is getting recognition and that she might just be the next big thing in music. We will keep you posted.
