Rwanda National Paralympic Committee (NPC-Rwanda) will hold their general election in March, according to the body’s secretary general, Eric Karasira.

"Elections for the new executive committee will be held in March,” Karasira told this paper on Wednesday but the dates are yet to be confirmed. Initially, the elections were supposed to be held this month.

The committee serves two terms. According to the International Paralympic Organization (IPC) rules and regulations, one of the elected officials, particularly, the president or chairman must be a person living with a disability.

Incumbent president Celestin Nzeyimana, who replaced Dominique Bizimana in 2013, has not yet declared his intention to run for another term.

Among his achievements is Rwanda winning the ParaVolley Africa Sitting Volleyball Championships to qualify as Africa’s sole representatives at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
