APR handball club head coach Anaclet Bagirisha has vowed to end Police handball club’s dominance in the ongoing Rwanda Handball League.

The coach made the remarks after his team convincingly won UR/CASS on Sunday 58-20 at the UR/CASS ground.

APR are level with Police on 3 points but the former tops the table on a four goal difference.

The coach appreciated his players for the showing against UR/CASS and expressed optimism that they will continue to perform on top of their game so that they lift this season’s championship.

"I am very grateful with the way we performed, it was an easy win against one of the strongest sides in Rwanda and our ultimate aim is to cut short the dominance of Police,” he said

"We have brought in some big players, one left back named Yanick Nshimiyimana, Shema Frank (centre back) and Yanick Karenzi (right back) from Kigama Handball club,” he said

He added that they also signed two experienced players from Police Handball Club and these include Jean Paul Muhawenayo (left back) and goal keeper Samuel Bananimana.

"These players are expected to add confidence and experience in our young players and make them play well,” he noted.

APR handball club has won this league only twice in 2009 and 2010 and the coach is convinced that this is the time to revamp their form and reclaim their lost glory.

While their rival, Police have had trophy laden years- winning the national championships for five consecutive seasons , 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively.
