Rayon Sports forward Shassir Nahimana was named the December Player of the Month following his excellent performance-five goals and three assists in the national league.

"I am thankful to my teammates and every member of the team, if it was not for them, I would not be able to achieve this. Nonetheless, we have to work hard until the end of the season,” said Nahimana, who is the league top scorer with 11 goals from 13 matches.

The 23-year-old Burundi international added, "We have a long way to go and so we need to keep our focus. The second round of the season is going to be more difficult and we have to be prepared for the challenges ahead.”

Nahimana was handed his award on Sunday after Rayon Sport’s barren draw with Etincelles on match day 13 at Kigali Regional Stadium.

He won the award ahead of three other contestants that included; Emmanuel Sebanani (AS Kigali), Djabel Manishimwe (Rayon Sports) and Patrick Sibomana (APR FC).

Etincelles striker Salita Gentil Kambale won the November award after edging Eric Ndayishimiye (Rayon Sports), Dany Usengimana (Police FC) and Saddam Nyandwi (Espoir FC).
