AS Kigali WFC goalkeeper Angeline Ndakimana is confident that her side can retain their Rwandan Women's League trophy despite the fact that the club is experiencing massive player exodus.

AS Kigali WFC are tied with rivals Rayon Sports WFC at the top of the table with 34 points each while both teams boast the same goal difference of 49 goals after 12 league games.

The Citizens have so far lost some key players including Alodie Kayitesi and defender Immaculée Uwimbabazi who crossed to the Blues in December 2023 in a latest development that could ignite the pair's rivalry in domestic women’s football.

But, with or without them, Ndakimana insists that the remaining group has what it takes to maintain the momentum and win the league trophy again this season.

"This 2023/24 season has been good so far. We have to continue pushing and go all out and I am optimistic we can defend the league title," the shot stopper told Times Sport

"My goal is to keep as many clean sheets as ever and let others do their job as well. We have a solid squad and we can win trophies."

The reigning champions defeated Rambura 6-1 on Saturday, January 6, as the league resumed after the festive season break. They return to action on Saturday, January 13, where they will take on title rivals Rayon Sports in what is regarded as the game of the season.
