MTN Rwanda subscribers can now stream and share videos, thanks to a new mobile application unveiled by the telecom firm on Thursday. "MTN TV is based on a local cloud concept whereby all content is available locally here in Rwanda, which enables users to stream video content at nearly two times faster than non-locally hosted content, saving the customer on buffering time,” he said.

While using MTN TV, Bayigane said customers will be able to select the channels of their choice from a bouquet of channels. One will, however, have to part with Rwf100 for a data bundle.

The application provides an additional platform for the content providers to share their content such as TV stations, artists, movie producers, comedians, media houses, music houses, and so forth, he added.

"The MTN TV service will deliver an exciting bouquet of rich local and international content to Rwandans. This service bears testimony to the commitment of the company to lead innovation and customer satisfaction in the industry,” he said.

Bayigane said the launch of MTN TV is "another bold demonstration of MTN’s dedication in driving data growth and development by enabling Rwandans to keep pace with the latest global trends and converged solutions”.

In addition to streaming video, facility will have advertising services on the application to offer clients a yet another platform to advertise their products and services. The adverts are run as in-app ads or popup ads that appear in the process of streaming or browsing the app menus.

How to get the MTN TV app

Go to Google Play Store and download the MTN TV Rwanda app (iOS version will be available soon), open app and input your MTN number for authentication, browse favorite menu to select your favorite content, and then select preferred bundle to start video streaming.
