A visual art exhibition titled "Her” opens today December 10 at The Office shared working space in Kiyovu.

Rwandan/French artiste Mucyo Mu is behind the solo exhibition. Mucyo, who uses bleach as a medium to explore the vintage effect in his pieces explained that women will be the theme of his latest exhibition.

The one-day exhibition will feature a series of portraits, with everyday life scenes depicting women displayed to reveal their soulful strength, grace and impenetrable beauty, Mucyo further revealed.

Mucyo first showcased his bleaching concept in December 2014, in an exhibition titled Constellations at the Inema Art Center in Kacyiru.

"In bleaching we take out colors to create something, while painting is the opposite –you add colours to create. Bleaching is like creating light out of darkness,” he explained.

The technique involves the use of light in a dark space in a way that is designed to stimulate the auditory senses. Exhibition-goers can expect lights off in the exhibition space as was the case at Constellations. The artist will make do with just spotlights pointed at the exhibits.

In December last year, Mucyo staged another exhibition – Ali Bomaye, a homage to iconic heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali who died on June 3rd this year.
