Is Isimbi finally bowing out?

The last time University of Rwanda; Huye Campus had the Miss Campus contest was way back in 2012. At the time, Deborah Abiellah Isimbi was crowned and four years later, she still holds the crown.

It seems that a lot happens in four years because Isimbi, who is the daughter of the renowned Evangelist Antoine Rutayisire, has since become a mother.

Word has it that the competition, Miss UR Huye 2016, may be happening this December after a group of organisers, under what is called ‘Root of Culture’, made up their minds to restructure the contest and make it bigger and better.

We are told that the online applications are now open and those who want to contest can now submit their names.

We are definitely keeping an eye on this one.

Is TNP working on new material?

TNP is a name that is popular in Kigali but it somehow always gets overshadowed by other groups like ‘Active’ and ‘Urban Boyz’ and it seems these young lads are tired of being in the shadows. We are told that group, made up of two singers, has decided to pay top dollar for the best producer in town ‘Pastor P’, to work on their album scheduled for release in 2017.

The singers are also considering hiring other producers to give the album a mixed feel so as to cater for all music categories.

The band hopes that Pastor P will put his golden touch on the album and elevate it to the same level that he has with singers like King James, whose songs he has produced over the years.

We wish them the best.

‘The Ben’ is finally here!

Every local music enthusiast has been waiting for the official confirmation of the return of RnB singer ‘The Ben’ and thank God that the wait is over. The Chicago-based singer has confirmed on his social media platforms that he is finally coming home.

The Habibi hit-maker will be headlining the annual East African Party which will take place on New Year’s Day. We are told the singer will land at Kigali International Airport on December 19, and upon his arrival, the music star will have a press conference and then begin rehearsals.

The Ben

Just before departing from the United States, the singer has surprised his fans with a new single dubbed RohoYanjye.

The East African Party which is organised by East African Promoters will also be graced by local artistes including music crooner Bruce Melody, Charly & Nina, and rising star Yvan Buravan.

This is a party that we also can’t afford to miss. We will bring you all the juicy details.

Nason /CB Records part ways

RnB and afro-beat singer Nason, real name Nason Nshimiyimana, has been off the music scene for the last three years and he is back; with accusations.

The singer, who has been signed to CB Records since 2014, hoped that the studio would help him to record, promote and organise concerts on a journey to grow his music career but it seems he got the raw part of the deal.

Nason says that not only has he not benefitted from the terms, he also wasn’t even able to release any music since he signed the deal.

News reaching our desk tells us that the singer has now approached Philbert Nyirimigambi, who managed this label to terminate their agreement before he begins working on his music solo. What a bad way to end the year. We wish him the best though.

Irakoze takes his music to TZ

Tusker Project Fame 6 Winner Hope Irakoze refuses to be one of those people whose name is making waves today and gone tomorrow. To make sure that never happens, the singer, together with his colleague, Eric Mucyo, formed 3Hills Band and to the surprise of many, the band has been a hit with many revelers.

The two, who have songs like Manyinya and Vimba Vimba sing in Kinyarwanda and Kirundi and mostly mix their music with Swahili lyrics to appeal to the regional crowd.

Irakoze

Irakoze is now taking his band to another level, with a trip to Tanzania as part of the media tour to promote their music in the East African region.

The hardworking band will perform in different areas before returning and planning for Kenya and Uganda. This seems to be the beginning of great things. We wish them the best!
