After sealing a one year deal with defending champions APR FC and winning his first game in charge, head coach Jimmy Mulisa has rallied his troops to win a league and cup double this season.

The defending champions beat Etincelles 2-1 on Friday and moved to fifth position on the table with 11 points having played two games less. They are favourites in the race to win the league title for the record-extending 17th time.

Mulisa is seeking to make the history of winning the league title and Peace Cup as he did as player for APR in 2003 and 2005 where he scored 16 goals in 41 matches before turning professional.

"It was a tough game especially in first half but my ambition is to win both the league and Peace Cup, we expect it to be a tough race, but I think we have enough quality and experience to see us through,” the former Amavubi forward told Times Sport.

He added: "I believe that we have a strong squad which can beat any team and whoever gets the chance to play will be up for the challenge. This is a big team so everyone has to be ready and I have trust in the players we have.”

" It’s a great honor to be coach of APR FC and so I have to work very hard to win a league and cup double this season, we know we have a big threat in the likes of Rayon Sports and Police but we have to be prepared for any challenge,” the former Rwanda international noted.
