Why can’t Donald Trump run his businesses?

I find it amusing that Americans elected a businessman as their next president and suddenly, they’re losing sleep over his “huge” business empire. I think those expecting Trump to suddenly forget about his business interests are naive.

I find it amusing that Americans elected a businessman as their next president and suddenly, they’re losing sleep over his "huge” business empire. I think those expecting Trump to suddenly forget about his business interests are naïve.

The man has worked his entire life to build his empire and now that he’s president, people want him to cut ties with his business partners, sell off his assets and focus on the presidency. He will not and whoever expects him to will only get disappointed.

I think the best thing he can do is declare his wealth before taking office but being Donald Trump, I don’t think he’ll do that either. I think Americans should relax though.

They haven’t had a President who openly brags the way Trump does. That’s partly why we know about Trump Tower, his many hotels, casinos and golf courses around the world. If anything, skeptics should be grateful they at least know about some of his properties and business interests.

Let’s be realistic though. Trump made a lot of money over the last four decades or so and I may be naïve too but I don’t think he’s out to grab more money. I could be wrong and I guess time will tell but like I said before, what else could Trump really want? He recently said he will hand the businesses over to his children which I doubt. People like Trump like to run things.

They just don’t delegate. Trump is a typical control freak and that is not always a bad thing. He’s 70 years old with at least four grown children, all of whom would have been running the empire by now if he had let them.

He’s not about to. He’s going to run the country while keeping an eye on his businesses. I hope I’m not sounding like Trump’s biggest fan because I’m not but I was just thinking that it’s hypocritical of us to criticize him for keeping his children in his inner circle when at the end of the day, all parents look out for their children.

If there’s anything you can do to give your kids an edge, you do it because you want them to do well and in the event that you pass on, you want them to be okay and set for life. I don’t know many successful people who don’t think of eventually passing the reigns to their offspring. And let’s be honest, don’t we all wish our parents were successful so we wouldn’t have to struggle finding and holding onto jobs?

If your dad were President of anything, wouldn’t you enjoy all the perks and privileges his position allowed you? So why do we expect different from Trump and his family?

When he loots government coffers or enriches himself and there’s proof, then we can call him out but until then, let the man keep his assets, after all, he even turned down the salary, thought to be around $400,000 a year for US Presidents. He will need his assets to fall back on after he leaves the presidency.
