Dubbed ‘ Umubi’, the short horror film was produced during the Covid pandemic and was directed by Ishimwe’s brother Kevin Mugisha. It features her sister and two family friends. ‘Umubi’ is now on YouTube on elevate Tv channel.

Ishimwe has been in the film industry for 10 years but her breakthrough was in the TV series ‘City Maid’ in 2018. She described her journey as an enjoyable experience where she learned a lot and got to grow to the actress she is today.

Among the challenges in the past five years, Ishimwe said that she tried not to be overpowered by fame and live a normal life regardless of how people thought her life was, which was a bit challenging.

" My role was about a girl who just came from Canada, so in real life people, especially businesspeople and moto riders charged me unfairly. So , I had to tell them that they should treat me like Sandra, not Nadia from the film,” she said.

Having a good working environment, Sandra said, made her work more enjoyable, especially for the fans who were very supportive.

A student at Mount Kigali University in Mass Media and Communications, Ishimwe highlighted that she is determined to use her talent to promote Rwanda’s cinema. She has many projects that she is working towards and wants fans to know her from other films.

As she moves forward, she is grateful for the trust and support she has received from fans for the past years, which motivates her to keep working hard and continue giving the best from her work.
