Editor,

Re: Fare thee well Castro, a true friend of Africa (The New Times November 28). Our primary and secondary school education syllabus has all along been designed to extol the whimsical virtues of the so-called western civilisation and neo-liberalism.

Myself, my kids, all and sundry have been raised on the bible according to ninja saints: John Speke, Henry Morton Stanley, David Livingstone, all manner of clandestine-cum-exploitative missionary outfits (White Fathers, Mill Hill etc) – all plunderers of Mother Africa’s resources.

Why haven’t the Castrol/Guevara history leanings and ideology been mainstreamed in Africa? What a shame!

Can’t thank you enough, Ms Elizabeth Rugege, for educating me on Cuba’s invaluable contribution to the liberation of Southern Africa, and by association, Mother Africa as a whole.
