Weekly comedy show launched in Kigali

A new comedy show dubbed, The Com Factory, has taken Kigali by the storm, especially among stand-up comedy enthusiasts. The show’s first episode kicked off last Thursday, with a host of standup comedians sharing the stage at Galaxy Hotel in Kigali.

A new comedy show dubbed, The Com Factory, has taken Kigali by the storm, especially among stand-up comedy enthusiasts.

The show’s first episode kicked off last Thursday, with a host of standup comedians sharing the stage at Galaxy Hotel in Kigali.

The performers included local comedians Michael Sengazi, Hervé Kimenyi, Robert Niyonkuru and George Birungi, together with Captain Khalid from Tanzania, Dr Ofweneke from Kenya and Burundi’s Divin.

The show is organised by John Muyenzi aka Babu, with the aim to encourage local talented comedians to come out of the shell. "It’s basically a factory for comedians. So we created the show to make it a platform for any comedian who would love to showcase their talent,” said Babu.

The Com Factory will be held every Thursday, with a series of hilarious shows, and it will be aired on Rwanda television every Saturday night – starting November 19.
