Tycoon Makuza passes on

Prominent businessman in the country Bertin Makuza has passed away. The news about his death broke on Thursday morning. A family radio announcement described Makuza’s death at King Faisal Hospital Kigali, as untimely.

Prominent businessman in the country Bertin Makuza has passed away.

The news about his death broke on Thursday morning. A family radio announcement described Makuza’s death at King Faisal Hospital Kigali, as untimely.

The passing on of the businessman shocked many Rwandans, including officials who described him as a hardworking man who died too soon.

"Makuza Bertin leaves us very early, he has been a hard worker, inspiring man, humble with simplicity, big achievement,” said MP JMV Gatabazi on his Twitter handle.

Makuza is the owner of Rwanda Foam LTD, manufacturers of mattresses and other bedding materials.

He is also the owner of Makuza Peace Plaza which was named after him.

It is one of the largest buildings in Kigali, built at the tune of $42 million (about Rwf30.4 billion)
