Editor,

RE: "MPs demand reforms to check loss of public funds in litigations” (The New Times, November 1). Thanks for this well detailed article.

But I have a concern: How could the Lower House and the Senate take the side of the Government? Parliament is chosen by the people and should represent their interests. Thus, that 75 per cent of court cases are won by ordinary citizens (civil servants) against the Government should actually be seen as good news by Parliament.

2. I am impressed by the Rwandan judiciary for delivering verdicts that are against the executive arm of Government and, in this case, side with the victims of illegal dismissals.

True democracy exists where there is balance of power between the judiciary, legislative and executive arms of the Government.
