AS Kigali winger Charles Tibingana has handed in a transfer request to leave the national football league club, according to reports from the Kigali City side.

In August, the 22-year old right winger joined AS Kigali from defending champions APR FC, as a free agent, on a two-year contract, having failed to nail down a regular place in the first team.

However, AS Kigali head coach Eric Nshimiyimana has disclosed that the Uganda-born former Rwanda international has requested for permission to leave the club.

"Charles has requested to be allowed to leave the club and I think he will not be part of our squad this season. He’s been linked to a professional club in Asia, and as far as I am concerned he’s has a right to leave or stay, depending how talks between the two clubs go,” revealed Nshimiyimana.

The former Amavubi coach noted that, "His leaving will not affect the squad because we have other players who can play in his position. We can only wish him the best.”

Tibingana sprung to the limelight with his impressive performance in the 2011 Africa U-17 Youth Championships held in Kigali and later the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico.

He was signed by APR in 2013 from Victoria University FC of Uganda but later released after the military side took a radical decision to start using only Rwandan players. Tibingana is a naturalised Rwanda.

In his last appearance for AS Kigali, he as hauled off after just 25 minutes during the pre-season friendly against Rayon Sports which ended in a 3-0 defeat.
