After losing to Egypt in the second match of the ongoing Africa U23 Volleyball Championships on Tuesday, Rwanda’s U23 women volleyball team has turned focus to today’s match against Botswana at Safaricom Indoor Stadium in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya.

Title favourites Egypt won the match in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-17 and 25-21). Egypt also beat hosts Kenya in the opening match, which means they need one more win to automatically qualify for next year’s U23 women World Championships in Slovenia.

Top two teams from the ongoing tournament will represent Africa at the global showpiece.

After the match, Rwanda head coach Paul Bitok, said, "We’re disappointed to lose today but we have to look to the next games, against Botswana and Kenya. We knew it was always going to be difficult against Egypt.”

Rwanda will play against Botswana on Wednesday before wrapping up their campaign against hosts Kenya on Thursday. Bitok’s team is scheduled to return home on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Senegal lost to Botswana 3-2 while Kenya lost to Egypt 3-1.
