Airtel subscribers need not worry any more when sending or withdrawing money using Airtel Money platform, thanks to a 40 per cent reduction in transaction charges by the telecom firm.

Moses Abindabizemu, the Airtel Rwanda marketing director, said the move seeks to support subscribers, noting that customers will now save the money meant for transfer or withdraw fees.

"We want Airtel Money subscribers to transact with ease and at affordable prices. We also want to encourage people to embrace a cashless culture,” said Abindabizemu while announcing the new rates during a press conference at the telecom’s head offices in Remera, Gasabo District.

According to the new rates, one will be charged Rwf75 to withdraw Rwf501-Rwf1,500, while withdrawing Rwf500,001-Rwf1 million will cost Rwf5,000. Customers will send money on-net for free.

The telecom firm has 850,000 Airtel Money subscribers.
