He made the remarks at his home in Kiyovu, Kigali City during a luncheon he hosted for the team on Tuesday.

Nizeyimana reminded the players who were in company of their families that they have to win at least one trophy in the coming season.

Mukura will start the league campaign against newly promoted Pepiniere at Kicukiro Stadium on Saturday.

"We have good players and a good team of coaches, who are doing well. First, we focused on building our team to make it more competitive and now we are turning focus on winning the trophy,” Nizeyimana said.

Last season, the Huye-based giants finished third in the league behind champions APR, and Rayon Sports.

Although the club lost two star players namely left-back Celestin Ndayishimiye and Muhajiri Hakizimana who joined Police and APR respectively, Nizeyimana believes that his side can still compete for the top position.

"We have set a target as team to win trophy. We are expecting to move to the next level, but most importantly, we should win at least one trophy next season,” he noted.

He added that he idea is to perform better than last season and "the good thing is that we can do that, we can challenge for the titles. It is a new challenge for us but we believe we can be successful.”

Mukura Victory Sports will spend Rwf159, 622,229 in the upcoming 2016/2017 season. Back in September Nizeyimana reigned as president of the team but the players, fans and all members of the team requested him to rescind his decision.

Nizeyimana’s company Volcano Express a transport company is a sponsor of Mukura Sports.

Mukura Victory Sports was founded in May 1963; the club currently competes in the Rwanda National Football League and plays its home games at Huye Stadium.

They club won the Coupe du 05 Juillet now Peace Cup four times in 1978, 1986, 1990 and 1992. The club is yet to win the league title.
