With a handicap of 16 that improved to 14 after her triumph, Namutebi, who also recently won the inaugural Liberation Day tournament that took place in July, stunned a strong field that included seasoned golfers, both men and women. For her victory, she won herself an iPhone 5 courtesy of MTN and an air ticket to any destination of her choice, thanks to RwandAir, on top of the trophy.

"I feel proud and excited to have won such a high profile tournament,” she told Times Sport, before adding that, "basically what I do is not to compete against anyone but to have the perfect game.”

Innocent Rutamu and Gadi Musasizi tied for top spot with 69 Net in the handicap 0-9 category, and each won an iPhone 5 and Samsung J 1 respectively.

In the handicap 10-18 category, Chy Young returned 63 Net beating John Bosco Mugabe by one stroke to win a Samsung S5 Mini while Mugabe took home a Samsung J1.

The third group (handicap 19-28), Benjamin Mukisa returned 61 Net to win a Samsung S5 Mini and was followed by Zeng, who returned 64 Net to win a landline telephone

Meanwhile, Michel Kayihura Makolo, a member of the Kigali Golf Club won a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - 2016 Model. This year’s event was sponsored by MTN Rwanda, Victoria Motors Rwanda Ltd and RwandAir.

The car, which is valued at US$72,000 (about Rwf57 million), courtesy of Victoria Motors Rwanda Ltd was to be won as prize for a hole-in-one, on Holes 1 and 10.

However, none of the 102 golfers managed to get a hole in one and a raffle was done at end of the two-day tournament on Sunday evening, with Kayihura emerging as the lucky winner.

"I don’t know what to say but I am very happy, this is the biggest surprise I have ever had and I would like to thank Victoria Motors Rwanda Ltd for sponsoring this prize,” said Kayihura.
