FERWAFA to release revised league fixtures Wednesday

Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) will release the revised fixtures for the 2016/17 national football league season on Wednesday, according to its spokesperson Musa Hakizimana.

Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) will release the revised fixtures for the 2016/17 national football league season on Wednesday, according to its spokesperson Musa Hakizimana.

"We have not finalised everything but on Wednesday, we will announce all details about the revised fixtures and venues,” Hakizimana said ahead of league kickoff on Friday.

The Extra-Ordinary General Assembly, held from September 17-18 at La Palme Hotel in Musanze District, set up an adhoc committee to asses match venues for league sides namely; Kirehe FC, Sunrise FC, Amagaju and Bugesera FC and will be giving its final report on Wednesday.

According to the tentative fixtures, Rayon Sports will be up against Police FC on Friday at Kigali Regional Stadium, kick off at 6pm while the other match-day one fixtures will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

New league entrants Pepiniere FC will host Mukura VS at Kicukiro Stadium; Etincelles host Gicumbi at Umuganda Stadium while Bugesera FC will be at home against SC Kiyovu in Nyamata.

On Sunday, reigning champions APR FC will entertain Amagaju at Kigali Regional Stadium starting at 3:30pm, Marines will play against Espoir FC at Umuganda Stadium, Sunrise FC meet AS Kigali at Nyagatare ground and newly promoted Kirehe FC will meet Musanze FC in Kirehe. The 2016/17 national league winner will walk away with Rwf25m in addition to Rwf3million for being in the top two, Rwf2million for coming in top four and another Rwf2million for coming in top eight, courtesy of league sponsors- Azam Rwanda.

Meanwhile, Rayon Sports beat AS Kigali 2-0 in their final pre-season friendly match played on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium, thanks to Malian striker brace Mussa Camara’s brace.

On Sunday, SC Kiyovu beat AS Muhanga 1-0 courtesy of Mukamba Namasobwa’s strike.

On Friday, Police FC humiliated Gicumbi 4-0 at Kicukiro Stadium—Danny Usengimana, Isaie Songa, Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye and Hegman Ngomirakiza scored for Innocent Seninga’s team. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
