MTN Golf Open attracts 80

This year's MTN Golf Challenge taking place this weekend at 9-hole Kigali Golf course in Nyarutarama is expected to attract over 80 golfers in different categories, according to the Kigali Golf Club captain Dr. Davis Kashaka.

This year’s MTN Golf Challenge taking place this weekend at 9-hole Kigali Golf course in Nyarutarama is expected to attract over 80 golfers in different categories, according to the Kigali Golf Club captain Dr. Davis Kashaka.

Most of the golfers who will compete in the annual tournament are locals with a couple of guest players coming from Uganda and Kenya.

"Different categories will be represented and prizes including smart phones, Ipads, air tickets on top of trophies will be given out,” Dr. Kashaka told Saturday Sport.

The different categories will include; handicapped 0-9, 10-18, 19-28, seniors and women and the national team.

The national team will be using the tournament as their final preparation before heading to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for this year’s East African Golf Challenge slated for October 25-29.

Dr. Kashaka added that a professional golf coach (Mpho Kelosiwang) from South Africa will also train local coaches, train members (men and women) and the national team on different days until October 15.
