Sports Club Kiyovu this week elected a new executive committee to steer the club’s fortunes in the next two years. Luis Claude Gasamagera was re-appointed as the club president replacing Haji Issa Munyandekwe. Francois Mvuyekure replaced Hon. Saidat Mukanoheli as vice president while Elie Manirarora was replaced by Damas Gashumba as secretary general.

Luis Claude Gasamagera was re-appointed as the club president replacing Haji Issa Munyandekwe. Francois Mvuyekure replaced Hon. Saidat Mukanoheli as vice president while Elie Manirarora was replaced by Damas Gashumba as secretary general.
Hassan Rutikanga was elected as the second vice president, with Shaban Muhamed taking over the treasury and Omar Gasasira is in charge of technical side of the club as well as public relations.
After the elections, Gasasira told Times Sport, that the new committee is tasked to improve the club’s management in a bid to restore Kiyovu’s lost pride.
He noted, "The biggest concern at the moment is to come up with viable policies that range from managing well the team, on top of raising its financial status, mobilizing and making consultations with the fans.”
"As a new management committee, we have to first build the club in terms of performance both off and on the pitch… but also to build confidence among the fans,” he added.
However, he admitted that the club faces a number of challengers ranging from insufficient financial power that leads to inadequate incentives to motivate players, which is key to boosting the morale of not only the players, but also of the coach and his technical team.
Gasasira believes that the new executive committee has the vision of taking SC Kiyovu back to its glory days as one of the top teams in the country.
To explore this, he revealed that, "Plans are underway to seek additional financial support from other sources on top of partners like Sulfo Ltd and Nyarugenge District.”
With less than ten days to the start of the 2016/17 season, the Mumena-based club has signed some new players to beef up their squad ahead of the new campaign; among them is midfielder Mustafa Francis and striker Blaise Bigirimana, both from Burundi.
Last season, SC Kiyovu, who last won the league title back in 1993, finished in sixth position with 46 points.
