Meddy nominated for MTV Music Awards

Singer Medard Ngabo, commonly known as Meddy, has been nominated for the MTV Africa Music Awards, (MAMAs). He is the only Rwandan musician nominated for the MAMAs 2016 slated for October 22 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Singer Medard Ngabo, commonly known as Meddy, has been nominated for the MTV Africa Music Awards, (MAMAs).

He is the only Rwandan musician nominated for the MAMAs 2016 slated for October 22 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The U.S-based Rwandan was nominated in the ‘Listener’s Choice’ category. 

The 27-year-old R&B star is in talks with Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol for collaboration. The R&B star is known for songs such as Nasara, Holy Spirit, Burinde Bucya, Ese Urambona and his latest Ntawamusimbura

The singer, songwriter and guitarist rose to fame in 2010 with the release of his hit Amayobera, which he later followed with tracks that included Igipimo, Oya Ma, Ubaza Ngukunda and many more. Meddy is known for his smooth voice, amazing dance moves and boy-next-door charm. 

Voters this year will be able to vote online, Google or by using social media, specifically Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. 

The annual awards are aimed at recognizing musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year.

MAMA 2016 will celebrate African talent across 17 award categories including best male, best female, best song and best collaboration. Additional categories this year include Africa Re-Imagined Award and Personality of the Year.
