Cyclists seek to impress in Chantal Biya and UCI World Championships

The national cycling team riders are seeking to impress in the upcoming Chantal Biya (Cameroon) and UCI World Championships, which will be held from October 13 – 16 and October 10 – 16 respectively.

The national cycling team riders are seeking to impress in the upcoming Chantal Biya (Cameroon) and UCI World Championships, which will be held from October 13 – 16 and October 10 – 16 respectively.

"For us we compete like a team, so if someone is doing better, we all support and defend him, which is why we are going to do our best to work as a unit throughout. It is difficult to win Chantal Biya but we are ready to give it our best,” said the national cycling team Captain, Nathan Byukusenge.

Byukusenge said the riders have been training hard adding that the entire team is looking forward to a better performance.

Riders taking part in the World Championships include Joseph Areruya, Valens Ndayisenga and Jean Claude Uwizeye for the U23 Road Race. Ndayisenga will also race in both the road race and the Time Trial while Bonaventure Uwizeyimana will represent Rwanda in the Elite Men’s Road Race.

Beatha Ingabire will race in the Elite Women’s Road Race while Rene Ukiniriwabo will race in both the junior ITT and road race.

Others members of Team Rwanda like Captain, Nathan Byukusenge, Ephrem Tuyishimire, Samuel Mugisha, Jeremy Karegeya and Bike Aid rider Jean Bosco Nsengimana will compete at the Grand Prix Chantal Biya in Cameroon.
