Chris Brown to perform in Mombasa

American R&B and hip-hop star, Chris Brown, is said to be getting ready for a concert in Mombasa scheduled for October 8 at the Nyali Golf Club.

Nigerian superstar WizKid, who was in Kigali a few days ago for the Mutzig BeerFest, will perform alongside the American artiste.

Brown’s concert comes just a few days after fellow American singer Trey Songz performed in Kenya. Songz was in Nairobi for a recording of the Pan-African non-competitive TV show ‘Coke Studio Africa’ Season 4.

While so many people in the region would love to be part of this much-anticipated show, it is said that the hefty price for tickets is drawing some back. It is alleged that revellers will part with KSh20, 000 (about Rwf160, 000) for a VIP ticket and KSh10, 000 (about Rwf80, 000) for a regular ticket.

The Ben for Prix Découvertes RFI 2016

Rwandan U.S based singer, The Ben has joined rapper, Angel Mutoni to take part in Prix Découvertes RFI 2016, an annual competition in which African artistes are selected to compete in a continental tour, and thereafter, a winner is announced in Paris, France.

Word reaching our desk is that The Ben, currently based in the US, will also be joining the race. The two will join other selected artistes and the winner will be awarded a cash prize of 10,000 Euros.

Other contestants include As Gang (Côte d’Ivoire), Pamela Badjogo (Gabon/Mali), Atis Constant (Haïti), Daba (Sénégal), Kandia Kora (Guinée), Minah (Madagascar), Soul Bang’s (Guinée), and Stella Afro (Madagascar).

Mani Martin participated in the same competition in 2013 but unfortunately didn’t win. Will this be Rwanda’s time to shine?

Screening of ‘Kuki arinjye’ movie flops

A couple of Rwandan film stars recently travelled to Rubavu District in the Western Province for the screening of a new movie dubbed Kuki arinjye, loosely translated as Why Me.

However, the highly anticipated screening event flopped as only a handful of revellers showed up. A roomy venue had been organised in anticipation of a large turn-up but organisers were shocked when people didn’t show up. More disappointing was the fact that the screening was made in Rubavu where the stars of the movie are very popular. So, what went wrong?

Charly& Nina to stage concert in hometown

Charly& Nina will this Sunday stage a concert in their home town of Nyagatare in the Eastern Province, at a popular drinking spot known as Charton Bar.

The duo is expected to feature the Agatako hit-maker, DJ Pius.Given their growing fan base and the fact that they will be performing for people in their home town, one can only hope that the turn up will be nothing short of great, unlike most of the shows that have been flopping lately. The two are known for songs like Mwenyura, Agatege, and Indoro, to name a few.

Blauman meets Humble’s parents

Urban Boys’ Humble Jizzo, real name James Manzi, must be on cloud 9 right about now. After winning Primus Guma Guma Super Star 6, the gossip mill has it that the artiste might be making plans to walk down the aisle.

The singer already took his girlfriend home for the official ‘meet-the-parents’ and word reaching our desk is that the two might be sending out wedding invitations soon, if the recent trip they made to his parent’s home is anything to go by.

According to our sources, Jizzo and his girlfriend, Amy Blauman, left Kigali on September 23 and headed to Lake Muhazi where they spent a few days. They then went to the singer’s home where they spent time with his parents. Blauman shared pictures of her with his parents on social media with the caption ‘Bonding time with Humble’s family’.

The two have been together for quite some time. Was the visit about announcing their forthcoming nuptials? Let’s wait and see.
