Dear counsellor,

I am currently studying as a day scholar at my school but have come to realise that students in the boarding section perform better than me. I’m contemplating whether to join

Kindly advise me.

While day schools are less expensive and enable constant parent-teacher communication about the physical and academic progress of the child, boarding schools have their own sets of benefits too.

Boarding schools operate on strict timetables that train you on how to be self-driven and this intensifies your academic interaction with both teachers and friends.

Notably, most boarding schools contain fully stocked libraries with the latest technology available that offer a wide range of knowledge, skills and exposure to essential concepts for your high-quality learning. This may consequently enhance your academic performance due to an extremely conducive learning environment and the kind of scholastic materials offered.

Extracurricular activities like athletics and debating clubs are also some of the many exciting opportunities that boarding schools have to offer after classes.

Boarding schools grant a moral advantage of character development. It’s a community where personality traits such as honesty, respect and hard work are highly emphasized plus a high sense of humor.

Boarding schools teach one how to appreciate and respect the differences for one’s way of life, culture, religion and harmonious co-existence. You will mature rapidly to make rational decisions and learn to admit responsibility for your actions because you will be bound by a certain discipline code of conduct.

Besides people that have gone through excellent boarding schools are often resilient, have a positive outlook to life challenges and have a solid foundation for their adulthood existence.

The constant interactions you make with your fellow peers of various languages may give you an additional advantage of bilingualism. Bilingual students possess a valuable skill that gives them a significant advantage in the domestic and international workforce. Therefore, you shouldn’t underestimate the value of boarding schools.
