LETTERS: Concert promoters should get their act together

Ouch. Some valuable lessons for marketing and promo here. Hope they're being learned. I agree that 2Face, as much as I love him, is not a big ticket event, anymore.

RE: "2Face Idibia's concert flops” (The New Times, September 26).

Ouch. Some valuable lessons for marketing and promo here. Hope they're being learned.

I agree that 2Face, as much as I love him, is not a big ticket event, anymore.

Here are two more tips I would like to offer to concert organisers:

1. Conduct proper market research to find out who the majority of fans would like to see perform in Kigali. It's expensively dangerous to just make assumptions in this business. Be certain well beforehand that people actually want to come see the acts you've booked.

2. Sort out definitively all the financial details between yourself, the acts, and all other stakeholders involved. Get the money sorted out before the show day, to avoid last minute drama, because this would dent your professional reputation.
