SC Kiyovu have confirmed Alloys Kanamugire as their interim head coach ahead of the 2016/17 season, which kicks off on October 14—the former Amavubi player, who is also the club’s technical director, will be in charge until a new permanent coach is brought in.

Looking ahead to the task awaiting him, Kanamugire, who knows SC Kiyovu in and out, said: "We have many young players and they need confidence and playing more games together—that is my first responsibility.”

"What I am doing right now is a building process where SC Kiyovu can be consistent. I will continue to work as interim coach and if possible I will sign a permanent contract but that will depend on how talks go,” Kanamugire told Sunday Sport.

The veteran tactician has vast experience in Rwandan football especially in youth development. He has previously worked with youth teams at different levels.

Kanamugire, who led the Mumena-based side to fourth place in the ‘AS Kigali Pre-season Tournament’, added: "In the past, we have had problems of finances and a lack of winning mentality, and I am trying to improve the latter by making the players to believe in themselves.”

"Before we were conceding goals towards the end of matches but today things have changed because we have improved our fitness and mental strength,” he explained.

Under Yves Rwasamanzi, who has since joined APR FC as assistant coach, SC Kiyovu finished in sixth position in the league last season with 46 points after they won 13, drew seven and lost ten matches.
