Local football governing body, Ferwafa’s technical committee has summoned six professional players to beef up the national team for next week’s international friendly encounter against Togo in Lome.

Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that four European and two Africa based professional players have been called and are expected in the country any time.

According to Kalisa, the professional players include; Hamad Ndikumana (Omonio Nicosia), Olivier Karekezi (Ham Kam), Said Abedi (Difaa El Jadida), Bobo Bola (Landskrona Bois), Henry Munyaneza (Germinal Beerschot) and Abubakary Saddou (unknown).

Belgium based midfielder Jimmy Mulisa has been excused from the Amavubi duty as he still has club commitments with his club, Rosarel Fc.

The Amavubi team has intensified preparations for the Togo friendly, and coach Branko Tucak is set to pick two teams to play a training game this afternoon as he seeks to select his final squad for next week’s game.

Tucak will be taking Rwanda to engage the West African nation as part of both teams’ preparations for the start of the third phase of the 2010 World/Africa qualifiers.

Rwanda is drawn alongside Algeria, Egypt and Zambia in Group C of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers while their opponents Togo has been drawn against Morocco, Gabon and Cameroon in group A.

Having failed to qualify for the last two Nations Cup finals, Rwanda must finish inside the top three in Group C to be able to reach Angola finals.

The Amavubi Stars open their campaign on March 28, 2009 at home against Algeria, travel to Zambia on June 6 before winding the first leg matches with a daunting away tie against Egypt on July 10.
