Nyamagabe District: Committed to accelerating social-economic development

Situated in the south-west, Nyamagabe is one of the 8 districts that comprise the Southern Province. 

It is surrounded by the districts of Karongi and Ruhango in the North, Nyanza and Huye on the East, Nyaruguru in the South, Rusinzi and Nyamasheke on the West.

With a population of 341, 941, the district has 1009 square Km subdivided into 17 administrative sectors, 92 cells and 536 villages.

In the 2015-2016 Imihigo, the district was fifth in the overall rankings in the whole country with 77.27%.

According to the Nyamagabe district mayor, Mugisha Philbert, the district has always and for many years recurring, jointly prepared for the performance contracts from the grass root level by involving the citizens. This explains their excellent performance and the teamwork between leaders and the population leading to excellent results.
