The 2022 Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally started with 20 drivers but 14 managed to finish after six of them dropped out for various reasons

Kenyan driver Karan Patel is the Champion of Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally that took place from September 23-25.

The 2022 Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally edition concluded on Sunday, September 25 , covered a total of 171.29km in Bugesera. Patel, who was driving Ford Fiesta R5 with his co-driver Khan Tauseef managed to win the race in 01 hour 19 minutes and 40.3 seconds.

Overall, the 2022 Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally started with 20 drivers but 14 managed to finish after six of them dropped out for various reasons. Miss Rwanda 2017 finalist Queen Kalimpinya is among the drivers who did not finish the race as she abandoned after her car encountered mechanical issues at the 11th special stage.

The annual race has so far become another opportunity for new talents to showcase their ability to compete in motor sports, like Queen Kalimpinya who this year, became the first Rwandan woman driver to compete in the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally since its inception in 2002. The former beauty queen and her co-driver Olivier Ngabo inked a new chapter in Rwanda's leading Rally.
