All is set for the second edition of the Circuit Beach Volleyball tournament which will be held on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu District this weekend, according to the organisers, Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB).

All is set for the second edition of the Circuit Beach Volleyball tournament which will be held on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu District this weekend, according to the organisers, Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB).

Speaking to Saturday Sport, FRVB Executive Secretary, Christian Hatumimana, said the tournament is aimed at promoting the game among the players.

"We have plans to organize this tournament every year, which will help to raise the level of the players, as well developing new players, who can compete in international competitions in future,” said Hatumimana.

The two-day event, which is expected to attract over 30 senior and veteran players in both male and female categories, will cost a total of Rwf6m, where the winner in both categories will receive Rwf200,000; second place team will get Rwf150,000 while the third-placed teams will get Rwf100,000.

The 2011 Africa Junior champion pair of Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denise Mutatsimpundu won the women’s title last year, Pierre Marshal Kwizera and Olivier Ntagengwa won the main event while Ignance Iyabato and Fidele Nyirimana took the veteran men’s title and Scholastic Nidukuze and Gertrude Kubwimana won for the veteran women’s category.
