She-Amavubi will be looking to bounce back from Monday’s 2-3 defeat to Tanzania in their opening match of the ongoing CECAFA Women Championships when they take on Ethiopia in their second Group B encounter today.
The game will be played at Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) technical centre-Njeru.
Grace Nyinawumuntu’s team hope to avoid the same mistakes that saw them lose their first match in the regional tournament, and are keenly aware that anything less than a win might see them return home prematurely as only top two teams from each of the two groups can advance to the next stage.
Nyinawumuntu said they have to give their best against Ethiopia, warning that the latter are a force to reckon with.
She rallied her troops to be more focused and show determination against the Horn of Africa opponents than they did against their East African neighbours.
"We are aware of the task that lies ahead of us here, but we are well prepared and will do everything possible to win the game against Ethiopia. We will try not to make any mistake in the game because it’s a make or break game,” added AS Kigali women team coach.
"If we play with high intensity and purpose, we shall have a good chance to beat Ethiopia. We’re positive we can win. We have strength in the team and I am optimistic we will stage an impressive performance,” she said.
The head coach added: "We made some mistakes against Tanzania because of inexperience but we learned from the game. Against Ethiopia, it will be even harder but we are ready for the challenge.”
For Rwanda to stand a chance to reach the last four, they must beat Ethiopia.
Semi-final fixtures are set for September 18 while the final and third-place play-off are scheduled for September 20.
Prior to this tournament, She-Amavubi had last played an international game in 2014 – an 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Nigeria’s Super Falcons – during the African Women’s Championships qualifiers.
