Rwanda national league champions APR FC registered the biggest win so far in the ongoing AS Kigali pre-season tournament after thumping Congolese side Dauphin Noir 5-0 in a match played yesterday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Forward Issa Bigirimana opened the goal galore before Maxime Sekamana added a brace in the 44th and 49th minute while Patrick Sibomana made it 4-0 in the 56th minute after coming on for Innocent Habyarimana.  Innocent Nshuti, who replaced Bigirimana, completed the rout in the 88th minute.

The huge win moved APR to the top of Group A on goal difference ahead of DR Congo’s AS Vita Club, who beat tournament organisers AS Kigali 1-0 in the opening game on Thursday at the same ground, thanks to Oumar Sidibe’s first half strike.

In Group B, Rayon Sports came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over local rivals Police FC to go top of the group with three points.

Eric Ngendahimana gave Police the lead after just 11 minutes but Rwanda international Savio Dominique Nshuti equalised for Djuma Masudi’s side before the half hour mark with a brilliant free kick past goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora.

As both sides seemed to be heading for a 1-all draw, Malian new signing Moussa Camara picked the perfect moment to net his first goal for Rayon Sports in the 93rd minute, which arrived after persistent pressure from Masudi’s team.
