South Africa’s Joshua Seale stamped his name in the books of Uganda’s Golf history after winning the 2016 Tusker Malt Uganda Open Pros tournament as Rwanda’s Ernest Ndayisenga finished 12th at the Par-72 Kitante course in Kampala over the weekend.

Seale posted an impressive 286 with two under par to become the new champion of the Tusker Malt Uganda Open. He had 72 on Day One, 72 on Day Two, 73 on Day Three and 69 on Day Four to fend off the advances by Zambia’s Muthiya Madalitso and Kenya’s KopanTimbe.

Last year’s champion, Muthiya Madalitso, came in second after posting 291. Madalitso had gone into Day Two as joint leader with Kenya’s Andersen Stefan but a triple bogey on Hole 5 and another on Hole 16, left him chasing Seale’s shadow.

Seale was relentless as he went into Day Four with an attacking mindset. His consistency throughout the final day as his colleagues in the same pressure group kept on slipping was a major weapon in his Arsenal.

Madalitso posted 291 with two over par while Kopan posted 291. Andersen came in fourth place after posting 291 too.

Uganda’s biggest hope at the tournament, Saidi Mawa, came in 7th place posting a score of 293 while Rwanda’s Ernest Ndayisenga finished 12th with a total score of 298 (72, 73, 78, 75).

The other Rwandans; Jules Dusabe and Olivier Munyaneza failed to make the cut after posting 79, 80 (159) and 159 81, 78 (159) respectively after two rounds.

Seale bagged UGX 24, 750,000 million for his win in the Tusker Malt Uganda Open.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Uganda Breweries Limited Managing Director, Mark Ociti said; "It is with genuine admiration that I offer congratulations to the tournament winner Joshua Seale after what has been an outstanding performance.”

Uganda Breweries Limited, through its flagship premium beer Tusker Malt Lager, for the 6th year in a row, are the title sponsors of the Uganda Golf Open.
