The winner of the inaugural ‘Promising Player of the Year’ award, last season, Rayon Sports winger Savio Nshuti Dominique has said only hard work will help him not only to win more individual accolades but also help the Blues to the league title next season.

Tipped as the ‘next big thing’ in Rwandan football, the two-footed Nshuti, 18, has excelled in his first season with Rayon Sports since his transfer from Isonga FC, scoring five goals to inspire his club to the Peace Cup title, their first in nearly 11 years as well as second place in the league.

The performance at both club and national team level in the past 12 months earned him the ‘Promising Player of the Year’ award, a spot in the Team of the Tear and lost to teammates Pierrot Kwizera in the race for Best Player of the Year accolade.

Speaking to Times Sport, Nshuti expressed his pleasure at his achievements, insisting that more is yet to come, "My major goal next season is to help Rayon Sports win the league title and possibly win the Player of the Year award.”

"This year has been a great success story for me, I am very happy that even people can see and endorse my development as a footballer, it’s a big inspiration and I think now the sky is the limit,” added the youngster, who is already a full Rwanda international.

In the ‘Promising Player of the Year’ category, Nshuti edged teammate Djabel Manishimwe and Marines FC Striker Blaise Itangishaka as Rayon Sports dominated the event as they had several category winners with their coach Djuma Masudi winning the ‘Revelation Coach of the Year’.

"We have the best team, the best coach and obviously a great team spirit, I am confident next season is a season to make records like winning the league title and I feel also need to start scoring more often,” he acknowledged.

Apart from Kwizera, Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye won the Golden Gloves for the best goalkeeper of the year—the trio made it to the team of the year along with their teammates Emmanuel Imanishimwe, who recently joined APR, Fiston Munezero, and Ismaila Diarra.
