A total of eight teams will compete in the pre-season football tournament that has been organised by national football league side, AS Kigali, scheduled for September 6-16 in Kigali.

The 10-day tournament will attract four top local clubs and four clubs from DR Congo.

The local clubs are reigning league champions APR, Peace Cup winners Rayon Sports, Mukura Victory Sports and organizers AS Kigali while the teams from DR Congo include; AS Vita Club that is already in the country training in Huye, Sanga Balembe, Dauphins Noirs and Darling Club Motema Pembe.

According to AS Kigali team manager, Joseph Nshimiye, the tournament is aimed to help their team prepare for the 2016/17 season, which is scheduled to start next month, although the dates have not yet been fixed.

"After this year’s first edition, we hope to organize it every year, it will be even bigger and we hope to invite more clubs from other regional countries,” Nshimiye told Times Sport in an interview on Wednesday.

The other three DR Congo clubs are expected to arrive in the country on September 3. The eight teams will be drawn into two pools and top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals.
